AMERICANS and CAROLINIANS who oppose government corruption in Washington DC and Raleigh are sponsoring an Independence Day Tea Party on the Halifax Mall in downtown Raleigh, on the 4th of July, from 1pm until 5pm.
With an unemployment rate of 11.1% and 4.7 BILLION dollar budget deficit, NC Governor Beverly Perdue's job approval rating has plummeted from 60% when she took office at the beginning of 2009, to just 30%, ratingher at fourth from the bottom compared to governors of other states. In February, she went on vacation. In March, she pushed for increasing taxes on cigarettes and alcohol. In April, she raided state funds and ordered pay cuts for state workers. In June, she pushed for more tax increases.
As state lawmakers consider new tax laws to make it more difficult to do business or to earn a living in NC, unemployment continues to skyrocket. In May, 82 of the 100 North Carolina counties experienced increases in the number of people unemployed according to a NEWS RELEASE issued by the NC Employment Security Commission, ESC. The "official" unemployment rate in NC for May was 11.1%.

If you live in NC, run a website, and earned a little extra money from the Amazon associates program, you won't be able to anymore, due to laws proposed by the NC General Assembly. The huge online bookseller, Amazon, has no physical presence in the state, and refused to succumb to taxation without representation.
House bill 1305 has been proposed by Hugh Holliman, and has many NC residents upset. The bill is in the House Insurance Committee, and then it will go to the Finance committee. Here is one email in opposition, which people can feel free to copy and add their own sentiments and their name. It also includes a comma-delimited distribution list which can easily be copied in order to contact all members of the committee.
NC Democrats had been hoping to convince Attorney General Roy Cooper to run for the US Senate, opposing Senator Burr. In a letter to NC Democratic Party supporters, on May 15, 2009, Cooper said "I don't want to go to Washington..."
Representatives Bill Current and Dewy Hill sponsored a good helmet repeal bill for NC Bikers, H839, until Cary Allred motioned for an amendment to restrict it to speed zones of 45 mph and under. The bill would have provided an exception for adult motorcyclists over 21 who decide to not wear helmets. With the amended bill, everyone will still have to wear helmets in speed zones over 45 mph, unless they are in a parade.
SAFETY NANNY legislators in North Carolina General Assembly are at it again!
Representative Earl Jones from Greensboro, (D-Guilford) introduced House Bill 1384 to get state government involved in pushing the use of sanitary wipes at grocery stores, to be used in wiping down the grocery cart handles.
The investigation of former Governor Easley and wife, Mary Easley, continues. According to news reports from Raleigh and elsewhere in North Carolina, the FBI is investigating travel records of the former governor. Allegations may include free flights in return for business deals. Investigators are also looking into records of political deals with an automobile dealer, in which the son of the governor used a Yukon without paying for it. Meanwhile, the sweet deal of an inflated salary which Mary Easley got from state run universities is being investigated.
